Charybdis II, Oman
Ruwi, Oman 2012
This vortex sculpture was commissioned for the offices of Bank Muscat in Ruwi, Sultanate of Oman.
The vortex operates to a preset programme of about fifteen minutes where the vortex rises turbulently in the cylinder, until the water flows over the top edge and down the outer surface. After a while the pump switches off and the vortex becomes calm and stable while the level drops.
